TeamLab Planet is an experience in Koto city, Japan, just a few stops on the metro from our hotel at Shintomicho. You wander through a series of art installations using light and mirrors and smoke to create illusions and effects, ending in what can best be described as an orchid invasion.
You enter througha locker room where you take off your footwear and roll up your trousers because you’ll be wading through water that is more than ankle deep in places. And then you’re taken down a dark corridor and start the experience:
It was a fascinating experience, and the orchids at the end were quite stunning. Apparently best seen lying on the ground but with a recent hip replacement, getting down would be fine, but getting up again might have been something of an issue!
After the show we walked back along the riverside to find something to eat.
Along the way we passed a soccer match between schoolboys:
We also passed a huge barbecue area where people were able to book a barbecue area and enjoy a meal together.
Bearing in mind it was late autumn, it was still warm enough to make for a pleasant evening walk.
